After a few months now making connections with many amazing people online and offline, I’m ready to post an article that pays respect to everyone through this epic fly fishing round-up post.
I’ve been asking a lot of questions over the last few months and been trying to provide huge value to you every day. This post is a summary of the connections and resources I have curated and created.
I have some results to share with you as well………
First, to the question, what is the best steelhead resource for people just getting started in steelhead fly fishing? I’ll answer that below and let you know a few of the people I reached out to along the way.
Secondly, I have been talking to and connecting with a bunch of other people and want to share a few of those connections I have made. Not on the list? Hey, just click here and introduce yourself.
Thirdly, I have been linking out, in my articles, to another group of great people and want to show my appreciation and connect you with them.
Fourthly……. Yes, forthly. I wanted to show you another popular section – Fly Fishing Tip of the Day. You can find a summary of these at the bottom of this post.
So, as you can see, there are going to be a bunch of shout-outs here. Shout-outs that I think will help you become a better fisherman. If I’ve been able to connect with these folks, chances are you can to. Let’s get started!
Oh, yeah and before I get started – here’s a link to the new expert fly fishing interview series.

Other books, videos or online resources that made the list:
- Steelhead Fly Fishing by Trey Combs

- Steelhead to a Fly by Clark C. Van Fleet
- Fisherman’s Fall by Roderick Haig-Brown

Epic Fly Fishing Conclusion
So, how do I go about concluding a post like this? I could give you a call to action or remind you how to get this information delivered directly to you? For this epic fly fishing round-up post though……
I’m just going to say THANK YOU! Thank you for saying hi, for leaving a message, for commenting and for a social share. Thank you for spending a little time with me at this new place that I call home.
I really hope that this site is something that you can call an EPIC FLY FISHING resource for you down the line. It’s new and fresh now so, I’ve still got a lot of work to do! So, I’m going to have to get back to it now. CHEERS – DAVE

It’s at no extra cost to you, and please if you have any questions related to this product, please let me know and I’d be happy to answer them for you.
Congrats, Dave, on your launch. I know a lot of work went into finally pulling the trigger on this.
Well done!
Thanks Buddy! Yeah, it has been a ton of work, but it has been even more fun. Building something like this with the small community that has been built is what it’s all about for me. I’ve got bigger things coming up for the second half of the year. Let me know if you have a chance to check out the new audio interview series.
Hey Dave.
For the past year, I’ve slowly been trying to grow my outdoor website. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been envious of your site. When it comes to fishing, I’m mainly a trout fly fisherman in the Rocky Mountains, but still find your site very interesting. I truly admire the dedication and hard work that you have clearly put into your website.
Wow, Derek! I really appreciate the feedback and love that the site is resonating with others who aren’t focused on steelhead. The one thing I’ve learned about being online is to forget about scaling the site. Just focus on every single person as though they’re your only audience. Build a small group of raving fans who you serve everyday and all things will work out. If I can get one person into their first steelhead this year….. I’ve been successful.
Yay Dave!! It is so awesome to see you putting up all this great content! It’s funny, the other day my dad and I were driving up in Washington and there was a sign that mentioned some type of fish, and my dad I had no idea what it was talking about, but the first thing I thought was, “I bet Dave would know all about that.” You are definitely a person with a vast wealth of knowledge and I’m so glad you’re taking the time to share that with all of us! Keep at it!
Yeah, it’s kind of my passion for better or worse. I have found that the more I write and produce content, the more I realize I chose the right niche to dive into. It will be fun to put some of my other projects out there for you and the world to see. Get feedback, make it better and then test it. The question I always think about is: What would I have wanted when I was starting out and struggling to catch fish. Answering that question goes a long way and mixed with personal conversations, I’ll get there.
Awesome work, makes me want to try and find time to go learn fly fishing when I’m in the United States, I’ve just started a website style thing on fishing http://www.fishingmaniactips.com, its just at starting progress, hopefully I can get it upto your level and also get into some fly fishing haha.
Im going to keep returning to this site.
Cheers.
Thanks Otis. Stay in touch and great job on the website.
