Steelhead Coachman Fly Tying Tutorial [video]

     

In today’s fly tying video I show you how to tie a steelhead coachman, a great summer steelhead fly pattern developed by John Hazel.

This fly has all of the buggy qualities you typically love to see with summer steelhead patterns.  This is a slight variation on the original so have a look and let me know what you think.

Steelhead Coachman Material List

Thread:  Size 70 Ultra Thread red

Hook:  Dai-Riki #899 Size #6

Tail: Yellow Hackle

Body: Peacock

Rib:  Medium Oval Tinsel

Hackle:  brown Saddle

Underwing: Pearl flash or krystal flash

Wing: White Calf-tail
